Dr. Shaharyar Ahmad is a double board-certified anesthesiologist and pain medicine physician, and the founder of Minaret Medical in Midtown Manhattan. He built the practice to offer unhurried, physician-led care that brings the precision of interventional pain medicine and the restraint of natural-looking aesthetics under one roof.
Training
Dr. Ahmad graduated summa cum laude from Monmouth University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, then earned his medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine. After an internship in internal medicine at Mercy Catholic Medical Center, he completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Cooper / MD Anderson, where he served as Chief Resident and Clinical Instructor of Anesthesiology. He went on to fellowship training in Pain Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
Academic experience
Dr. Ahmad served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Care and Pain Medicine at NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine, combining patient care with teaching. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.
Clinical focus
His work centers on minimally invasive, ultrasound-guided procedures, including peripheral nerve and joint interventions, alongside thoughtful medication management and non-operative treatment. The goal is always to address the source of pain while avoiding unnecessary surgery or long-term reliance on medication.
Philosophy
Every plan at Minaret Medical begins with a thorough evaluation and a candid conversation. Dr. Ahmad personally performs every procedure and every aesthetic treatment, and he believes that the best outcomes come from doing less, more precisely.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Ahmad is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine.
